A MODERN FAIRY TALE AT BANQUETING HOUSE
We received the prettiest pink Piccolo Press invitation to the Historic Royal Palaces Wedding Showcase at Banqueting House. Without hesitation, we dusted off our finest for a black tie evening to celebrate 'A Modern Fairy Tale' at one of Her Majesty's finest banqueting venues in London.
As we arrived, Royal Footmen greeted us and escorted us from the front courtyard with romantic, maple leaf Twilight Trees through an asymmetric floral archway into the Undercroft for a 'wedding ceremony'. The bridal party sashayed down the aisle in a fashion show which included Sassi Holford wedding dresses, twobirds Bridesmaid dresses and men suited by Apsley Tailors.
Guests were then invited upstairs into the Main Hall, with one of the world's most magnificent ceilings painted by Sir Peter Paul Rubens, for a champagne drinks reception provided by Moët-Hennessy and canapés by Blue Strawberry. As we mingled and enjoyed the beautifully decorated room Prelude Entertainment provided a string trio that played contemporary classics. Vibration Group added elegant AV production, Abigail Bloom Cake Company provided a regal tiered wedding cake and Philippa Craddock created really pretty floral arrangements with an abundance of green foliage.
We then took our seats at tables named after iconic Fairy Tales - from Princess and the Pea to Cinderella. Following speeches, the 3-course 'wedding breakfast' was served. The menu featured cured confit sea trout with pickled pumpkin, charred cucumber, kohlrabi and horseradish to start; a main course of glazed breast of guinea fowl with tomato gnocchi, Jerusalem artichokes and black olive puree; and a lemon posset with white chocolate honeycomb and wild berries to finish.
After dinner guests were invited to enjoy post-dinner drinks and a dance while listening to live music from JM Band. Those with an inner desire to break out in song could test their vocal chords in a Lucky Voice video booth.
Atmotion captured the highlights of the evening on film:
Thank you very much to Banqueting House and Historic Royal Palaces for such a regal and enjoyable evening!
