A ROOM FOR EVERY SEASON
Event professionals Starlight Design, rhubarb, Rob Van Helden Floral Design, Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium, Great Hire and Over the Top Rentals hosted an extravagant showcase in the East Wing Galleries at Somerset House on Tuesday evening, 22nd October. The theme for the evening was inspired by the four seasons, and just like Vivaldi’s famous concertos, each of the four dedicated rooms evoked different senses.
Spring boasted the most magnificent Singapore Orchid tree, set atop ornate floral dusky blue linen complimented by green pots of anemones and parrot tulips.
Summer featured a delft blue and white linen table laden with birdcages, picnic baskets of summer fruits and cracked pots of stunning pink and green flowers.
Autumn was probably our favourite room with its intimacy, black draping and giant mirrors. The table was adorned with fruit and vegetable topiary trees, succulents and heavenly hydrangea.
Winter wowed with a revolving table of rich red flowers and crystal-ware. The Christmassy room even had a liquid nitrogen stall with chefs preparing freshly made ice cream and desserts for guests with a sweet tooth.
It didn’t stop there! Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium impressed with a tiered cake for each season too...and why not?
Hire the Barman treated guests to a cocktail for each season to titillate the tastebuds. For us, the favourites were Winter's Smoking Apple Pie, and Summer's Clover Club!
We indulged in an assortment of stylish canapés and bowl food by rhubarb, which included a trip to the gourmet popcorn food station which had four flavours on offer (obviously!): truffle & parmesan; serrano ham & pea powder; black olive & yoghurt; and tuna mujama & lime zest.
Then last, but by no means least, the most popular hub of activity was around the decadent dessert station in the Winter room, offering light and fluffy marshmallows, bitesize trendy glazed cronuts, chocolate cones, macarons and mini cups of chocolate heaven.
We had an absolutely wonderful evening. Always a delight to catch up with and celebrate the fabulously talented suppliers in the wedding industry.
