CASE STUDY | EXHIBITION
Aashni + Co, a designer boutique selling high-end bridal fashion to the luxe Indian bride, based in Notting Hill.
For the first time ever, Aashni + Co wanted to put on an annual exhibition with seventeen of the best Indian couture designers called the Aashni + Co Wedding Show. For one day only, Aashni + Co wanted the fashion-conscious bride to be able to meet with the covetable designers and find her bridal garments without having to fly to India. This project had a 2 month lead time.
HOW THE EVENT WAS BROUGHT TO LIFE:
With a short turnaround time this project proved challenging, but it was important that this was like no other wedding show in the UK. The show was to attract a large audience and facilitate annual showcases from Aashni + Co going forward.
The Dorchester hotel provided the perfect central location for the exhibition, which spread across the infamous Ballroom and Holford & Orchid Rooms.
As guests arrived at the show and walked through the Gold Room, they were transported into an oasis of bridal luxury. The Gold Room was decorated with the intention of enticing and exciting the visitors, before they approached the exhibitors' stands. The room boasted decadent floral design in a pastel colour palette complementing the beautiful mural on the ceiling, while heady and romantic scented candles infused the air. Inspired by the dancing at Indian weddings each designer had a mannequin stood in various poses around the circumference of the Gold Room.
Moving away from conventional, corporate-looking exhibition stands, beautiful bespoke last cut partition walls with a high quality finish were commissioned, inspired by the floral motif of an exquisite designer gown.
The brides' excitement to meet with iconic designers was palpable. Brides were given a once in a lifetime opportunity to ask the designers for fashion advice for their wedding.
It was also important the couture designers who had flown to London for the wedding show had a luxury area to relax. The Holford Room was transformed into an exhibitors lounge and refreshments area inspired by the warm, orange sunsets in India with stylish furnishings where they were interviewed by press and media.
The show provided an unforgettable bridal experience for the Indian fashionista bride and saw over a thousand enthusiastic brides-to-be shopping for their dream wedding ensembles.
